How did Manitou achieve this industry leading performance?
Our quality construction allows us to offer the SHP. Unlike some competitors, we do not cut corners in our construction. By using extruded hat crossmembers, full length risers, thicker aluminum in the tubes, and the strongest deck in the industry, Manitou manufactures a boat that can withstand the demands placed on modern high horsepower performance pontoon boats.
Check out the motor pod on a Manitou. The .160" thick motor pod is bolted at 20 locations to extruded hat crossmembers. Others with flimsy construction know better than to subject their motor pod construction to these forces. For long term durability, today's high horsepower motors need the adequate support that only Manitou offers.
How is the SHP steering system different than conventional hydraulic steering?
The Manitou SHP features a Teleflex Sea Star Hydraulic Steering System with Power Assist. Similar to many automobiles, this hydraulic system uses an electric pump to allow steering with your finger tips.

What are some of the advantages of the Manitou SHP?
To understand the SHP advantage, you must first understand how performance pontoons have evolved. A typical pontoon hull is considered a displacement hull, not a planing hull like a fiberglass speedboat. In addition to being far less efficient than a planing hull, a displacement hull does not allow a pontoon to bank gracefully at high speeds. In years past, many pontoon owners with high horsepower motors have been disappointed with their boats' performance.
The Manitou SHP has created a hull design which acts as a planning hull. Hard cornering to the outside has been replaced with a more natural inward banking. The Sea Star Hydraulic Steering with power assist allows you to turn this boat at wide open throttle without any hesitation. This is unlike any pontoon previously on the market.
You can have the handling and performance of a fiberglass boat with the stability and floor space of a pontoon.
What does the Manitou SHP I/O offer for V-8 power?
All Manitou SHP I/O models are available with a 300 HP 350 Mag MPI with Bravo 3 Drive. This package features standard Digital Throttle Shift (DTS) technology. This smooth shifting package will knock you back in your seat.
All I/O models feature a 27 inch middle tube with 25 inch outside tubes (compared to 23 inch outside tubes for outboard models). The increased weight of this motor and drive is offset by these larger outside tubes. With twin stainless steel propellers, this boat gets up on plane quickly and turns on a dime. Wait until you hear it rumble by with the optional Captains Choice Exhaust!
What is the Manitou Sport Handling Package?
Manitou has used its 20 years experience in pontoon design to provide a package that allows for performance previously not seen on high horsepower pontoon boats. Several components work together to make the SHP a unique vessel. All Manitou SHP models are underskinned triple tube models which feature a center tube which is larger than the outside tubes. This center tube is mounted lower than the outside tubes, preventing ventilation during sharp turning. Lifting strakes are standard on the inside and outside of all three tubes, allowing for quicker planning and better hole shot. The final component of the Manitou SHP is a Sea Star Hydraulic Steering System with power assist unit. These components work together to provide outstanding performance.
What size motor can I get on a Manitou SHP?
